Santa Rosa Island Census Data from 1999-2000 Season


Santa Rosa Island had a total of 1,508 pups, 977 adult females, 196 subadult and adult males, and 1 juvenile for a grand total of 2,682. Census was taken by Mark Lowry a biologist with the Southwest National Oceanographic Atmospheric Association (NOAA). He collected the data at the end of the breeding season in the winter (this year the census was made on 11-12 February 2000).
