Farallon Islands Northern Elephant
Seal Census Data 1999-2000

During the 1999-2000 breeding season (December-March) this small rookery contained 60 males, approximately 250 pups, and 290 breeding females. A grand total of 600 northern elephant seals.

Census data was collected by Pt. Reyes Bird Observatory (PRBO) biologist Jerry Nusbaum. He collected the data by observing each sub-rookery, marking, and monitory individual females and their pups on a daily basis.
