  • The Core Lab
This computer lab exercise is designed to familiarize students with the web site (especially the image archive) and to demonstrate the seasonality of elephant seal reproduction.

  • Elephant Seal Reproduction
These five classroom activities help students discover that life is harsh for an elephant seal, and reaching reproductive maturity is chancy - the odds are against it. Students will gain insight into what forces shape elephant seal aggression, the dynamics that form an elephant seal population, and the dangers that face young seals.

  • Elephant Seal Adaptations
This module introduces students to the methods scientists use to study the physiology of the large and cumbersome elephant seals on land and at sea.
